You know, marriage is a lifelong relationship, and that’s the reason we use the phrase ‘for better or worse’ when joining the couple’s together. Now, this may not appear as exactly in the Bible, but it has root in scriptures.

To explain our topic for today, I’ll describe our relationship with Christ as a marriage of two spirits – God’s spirit (Rom 1:4) intertwining with the human spirit (Gen 2:7) to become one – 1 Cor 6:17. This Union should lasts forever. 1 Cor 6:17 says he that is joined with the Lord is one spirit. Now, when you’re in marriage, your body doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to the your partner – 1 Cor 7:4.

Last week, we looked at God’s part in the subject of Holiness. He’s thrice holy, we can’t attain that by ourselves, so he had to command it in 1 Pet 1:15. So we can stand a chance. Our part is to behold this holiness of his, and as we do, he beams it on us, and convicts us of what to repent of, we accept these and repent and he cleanses us with his blood, and that’s a continuous process – see Isaiah 6:3-7

Of course you must have seen in the above flow that there’s a part we must play! A continuation of that is what we are seeing in today’s class. Your body is not yours. No it isn’t. It’s for Jesus, so you have to flee sin – 1 Cor 6:18-19 Because even though, sin is conceived in the heart, it manifests evidently through the body.

Even though Jesus Christ was declared Son of God according to the spirit of Holiness (Rom 1:4), yet He had to love righteousness and HATE iniquity – Heb 1:9. Bible says flee every appearance of evil – 1 Thes 5:22. Sin is evil! No wonder, God cannot behold iniquity – (Habakuk 1:13). That’s because he has paid the biggest price for it, sacrificing his only begotten son – John 3:16! He cannot behold sin, because of the depth of His love. The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23), but Thank God there’s already a remedy – Eternal life through Christ Jesus. That’s your portion, please embrace that totally.

So, hate sin, because Jesus hates it. Love righteousness, because he loves it. That’s how to remain in marriage with God. That’s how to be holy! Amen!
