The easiest way to fail an examination is to be absent on the examination day. Even if you had prepared up till the exam time; If for any reason you couldn’t make it to the examination venue, you have failed. The examiner, however compassionate, will not award you any marks for your preparation. He will simply record you absent from the exam, absent from your duty post.

So it is with the visitation of God’s voice and his spirit. Yes, he meets you while waiting, while expecting, while watching, but then he meets you while working and being engaged at the duty post he has fixed you. If you have no dedicated duty for his kingdom, I urge you to seek his face to find you one. If there’s something he’s been laying on your heart to do for him, but you haven’t given it the thought it deserves, now is the time to get engaged. His voices meets you at your duty post. We started this in the last class, but today, we have an instruction – Don’t leave your duty post.

In 1 Sam 16:11-13, we see that David remained at his duty post, even when it seemed he had been abandoned there, just like John the beloved was also abandoned on the island of Patmos. No wonder, when God was out looking for a new king, none of his elder brothers qualified. He became king, because God met him at his duty post.

How about considering Saul himself, the king whom David was about to succeed. In 1 Sam 9:3-16, he also walked into God’s spirit and royalty because he stayed on his duty post. He was busy trying to locate his father’s animals. He was so obsessed with that duty post that he took the advice of his servant to even visit the prophet Samuel (a seer) who would help them locate the animals. But God rewarded his dedication with the crown. Child of God, please don’t leave your duty post.

In Matt 25:10, the 5 wise virgins made it to heaven with the bridegroom because they refused to leave their duty post. The foolish ones were shut out, for their lame excuse, for deserting their duty post. May we not miss the heavenly mark and our glorious reward in Jesus Name, Amen. But then, make sure you don’t leave your duty post. If you have left, please return there!
