ELAPINO

Everlasting life means life that never ends – Life that has no end. Of course, every life has a beginning. But when you have Jesus, you get admitted into everlasting life. Now, everlasting life does not only talk about the duration of the life, which of course is eternal, but it also talks about the quality of that life.

Let’s look at John 17:3. We will not leave the book of John in a hurry in this sub-series. Welcome to Elapino, welcome to Lifeclass. This is the sub-series we started right from the last class. Remember that our main series is still, Come, Drink – If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. We started looking at the twin part of that statement of Jesus, in John 7;37-38. Which says: He that believeth in me, out of his bellies shall flow rivers of living waters. And so we took that John 7:38 and compared it with John 4:14, where He said that:

“Whosoever drinks of the water I shall give him shall never thirst.”

So, in the last class, we established that if you believe, you will thirst no more. We saw interestingly also that Jesus Christ has been thirsty so that we would not be thirsty. He was given bitter liquid, so that our lives will be sweet. Remember Bible says that you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, how even though he was rich, yet He became poor for our sake, so that we through His through poverty might be made rich – 2 Cor 8:19.

So, Jesus Has been thirsty so that we would not be thirsty, that’s in John 19:28-30. In verse 30, he said it is finished. I’m trying to remind us of what we learnt in the last class.

“It is finished”, means “missing accomplished”. Everything is done. Thirst is that feeling you have when you need to drink water, or some liquid, quickly. But our Lord Jesus is saying, you have everything, it is finished.

In this class, we’re taking it a step further. Because when you believe, you have everlasting life. In the last class, we said, when you believe, you thirst no more. But here, we see that if you believe, you have everlasting life.

Back to John 17:3 that I wanted to show you.

[3]And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Isn’t that interesting. Eternal life begins when you know him. That is why I’m going to quickly talk to you, if you’re listening to this and you don’t have Jesus yet. That everlasting life, life eternal, life without end, life with very good quality, begins when you know Jesus. The moment you know Jesus, you enter into that everlasting life. The moment you know him and believe in Him.

[3]And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Many thanks for joining the class again. Today, we’re saying, believe and you’ll have everlasting life. Just as easy as that. Everlasting life is what the Bible says in John 3:16

John 3:16
[16]For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Let’s try to understand what everlasting life is. Let’s flip over to John 6:58

[58]This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.

We would have to pick here, something to make us understand this point. In John 11:26, Jesus Christ said again that He that believes in me shall never die. Actually, let’s read it from 11:25

John 11:25
[25]Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

[26]And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

When you believe, even when you are dead, you will live. Anyone who doesn’t have Jesus is dead in sin. Please, come alive today!

Galatians 2:20
[20]I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Jesus is saying in John 11:26 that the moment you believe, even if you were dead, you will live. If you’re listening to this, whatever is Dead in your life begins to live. He says, He that believes in me, even if he’s dead, he will live. That’s what the Bible says.

Everlasting life does not begin in heaven, it begins right here on Earth the moment we know Jesus.

This is life eternal, that they may know him the only true God, and Jesus Christ who God has sent. The duration of that life is everlasting, for ever, but the quality of that life also, is good quality life. Let’s just look at the circumstances around that statement. That he who believes in me, even if he’s dead , he shall live, and He who believes in me shall never die. It was at Lazarus’ place, where Jesus Christ raised Lazarus from the dead.

John 11:21-26
[21]Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

In other words, if you had been here, he wouldn’t have died.

[22]But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

Take note: I KNOW.. Compare with John 17:3 – This is life eternal, THAT THEY MAY KNOW. Martha, said, I know that whatever you ask from God, He will give you.

So, it begins by KNOWING. Do you know that that which is dead in your life right now will live Eternal life begins with KNOWING. Martha said I KNOW. That’s powerful. That knowing initiated the miracle. That statement provoked God to action. When you say, Lord I KNOW, that this scourge in my life is leaving. I KNOW! I KNOW that I’m a success in this examination. No power can delay me. I KNOW that this marriage will work.

When you invoke that “I KNOW” , that acknowledgement, then you’re invoking everlasting life into that situation. I KNOW that my nation’s government will better the life of its citizens. I KNOW that our nation will bounce out of recession. Everytime you invoke that acknowledgement, you’re invoking God’s power into the situation.

Martha said, even though I would have loved you to be around before he died, but now that you’re here, I know, that my brother will live again. And guess what, that’s exactly what happened at the end. Because in the very next verse, Jesus Christ ENDORSED It! Hallelujah. That’s what happens when you invoke everlasting life into a situation. God will always show up.

[23]Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

[24]Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

But then, Martha quickly defaulted in her faith.

“O, Martha, are you still the one speaking? You had earlier acknowledged that You know that whatever Jesus asked from God, He will get, and Jesus had endorsed your faith.”

Martha’s faith has obviously been deflated here, perhaps she’s no more the one speaking, but doubt SPEAKING through her.

But Jesus quickly restored her!

[25]Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

So, Martha, yes, we will all meet at the resurrection, but everlasting life begins from now, because I am that resurrection and the life and anyone who believes in me shall live.

[25]Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

We will not live a rough and poor quality life on Earth only hoping to make heaven. We will not live poor, wretched, sick, depressed, only hoping to make heaven. The hope of eternal life is sure, but that good quality life begins now, the moment you KNOW.

[26]And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

[26]And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Now, the worst case scenario is when the person is dead. He that believes in me, even if he’s dead, he shall live. As the case of Lazarus in that story. The question is did Lazarus believe for him to be raised? How would one who is dead still believe? Think about that? That’s for another day.

But let’s know that death comes in different forms. The Bible says I will break your graves (Ezekiel 37:12). The moment you acknowledge God’s ability and power in any situation, you’re invoking Everlasting life already.

Now see this

If you’re still living and you believe, you shall never die.

Can you just proclaim like Martha that Lord I know that your word will reign supreme in my life. No matter what it is now, your power will change it. May every dead situation live in your life in Jesus Name. That’s what happens when you believe. This is practical. Think of those situations and invoke the “I KNOW” and you’ll simply be inviting everlasting life into the situation.

BELIEVE AND YOU’LL HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

Please come to Jesus today and receive everlasting life, say Lord Jesus, I come to you today and accept you as my Lord and Saviour. I rededicate my life to You. I know that you have been thirsty so that I will not be thirsty. My name is written in the book of Life. Thank you Jesus. I repent of my sins and I forsake them. I accept you as my Lord and saviour. Henceforth, I will not thirst anymore. Hallelujah. In Jesus name we have prayed. Amen. Congratulations, welcome to God’s kingdom !

That’s it, we’ve started another sub-series. He that believes shall never thirst. We meet again next time by God grace, Amen.
