Careless people do not think about what they are doing. As such, they make mistakes often. They hurt people, they damage things and damage relationships.

You must not be careless. Let me tell you this. The older you grow, the more difficult it is to correct your mistakes. Especially when you have been told the same things over and over again. So whatever it is you’re doing now and people are correcting you over, please take time, settle down and change them.

You should not be careless. Careless words, careless thoughts, careless sights towards the opposite sex, careless associations, careless trips, careless eating, avoid them all. I know what I’m saying. Bible says in 1 Pet 5:8 which we saw in the last class that

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Many people go deep into sin not because they intended to, but because the devil just flashed it at their sight and they didn’t quickly look away. He flashes unnecessary things in your mind and instead of purging it away and rebuking it in Jesus Name, you entertain them in ignorance. He flashes porn onto social media and instead of shifting your minds and eyes off immediately, you laugh it off and say, let me just se it. Please what are you seeing? You need to keep your eyes from seeing evil. Guard your heart jealousy.

You hear discussions that you shouldn’t be a part of and you foot drag at fleeing the scene. Backsliding doesn’t happen all at once. It starts by being careless. In a twinkle of an eye, if you are careless and accept that fist invitation, it brings another one. Very soon, what you once had aversion for, starts being acceptable in your sight, because you saw it for too long.

You shouldn’t be careless in any way.

Many thanks for joining this class. We go ahead in our sub series which says, carefree but not careless. Remember our main series is. COME, DRINK – JOHN 7:37 – Jesus speaking – if any man thirsts, let Him come unto me and drink.

We’ve been drinking at this river, looking at various instances in the scriptures where people have come to the river. Because the river signifies everything God and everything good in our lives. In our meditation and study, we came to the story of Gideon in Judges chapter 7 from verse 5. In verse 6, we saw something remarkable. We saw that after God had pruned down Gideon’s army from 32,000 to 10,000, by telling those who are fearful to go home, that also tells us that those who are fearful are entertaining cares, they are not care free.

In this case, those qualifying 10,000 have passed the test of being carefree. It means they aren’t fearful. As God had instructed that those who are fearful should go home. 22,000 failed this test. They had worries, cares and fears. Fears like, my children are young, my wife could become homeless, etc.

But 10,000 passed that test. Now, there’s another test. The test of whether they are careless or careful. Christianity does not make you careless. Our Lord Jesus said, watch and pray, that you may not fall into temptations. If it isn’t important that we be careful, He wouldn’t have said that. We find that in Mathew 26:41.

So, our Lord Jesus Christ Himself taught us to cast our cares upon him. Remember that He also said “In John 16:33 that in this world, you would have tribulations, but be of good cheer, because I have overcome the world.” That’s of course a basis for being carefree.

But then, He himself says watch and pray, that you may not fall into temptation. Watch means, don’t be careless.

Back to our anchor scripture for this sub-series. In Judges 7:2, 22,000 soldiers failed the test of being carefree. The 10,000 that passed had to be subjected to another test. God is saying, I know that they are carefree. They have cast their cares upon me. They are carefree, but let’s be sure that they are not careless. Besides, God even said that He wouldn’t need that much number of soldiers to win the war against the midianites.

In verse 6, Bible says, only 300 of them put water from their hands and drrank from their hands while they observed their surroundings. Meaning that they are vigilant, even as they drank. They proved to Gideon that they aren’t careless.

1 Pet 5:8, be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

You must not be careless. Be care-free, but not careless. Now let’s zoom in on that scripture again. In the last class, we focused on being carefree. In this class, we’re learning how not to be careless.

In what ways are we careless. We get careless in our words, sights, trips, associations, in our celebrations, our eating, drinking, etc.

Let’s see Mathew 6:25. This class should be rightly titled, Don’t be careless.

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

This means be care-free! Yet in this class, we’re saying, be carefree, but don’t be careless!

It’s a pity that these days, many are being careless. Bible says how the mighty have fallen and the weapons if war are being destroyed.

Bible says tell it not in Gath, publish it not on the streets of askelon, so that the daughters of the Philistines will not rejoice.

That was David’s lamentation when Saul and his sons were slain on the mount of Gilboa. You know what? So many weapons of spiritual warfare are being destroyed in these last days. Many Christian’s are being carried away. We’re being careless. We do not take importance, the need to be on guard, to be on fire, to refuel, in the presence of God, in prayer, in praises, in fasting, in Evangelism, in being careful.

We are losing that gradually and we allow Satan to take territories pulling down structures we have built over the years. You know, it may take years to build, but one moment of carelessness, can easily bring down what you’ve built over the years.

Let’s look at the story of Samson in Judges 14. Samson, as powerful as he was, became careless and before you know it, he joined with Delilah. Delilah was not even the first one. In Judges 14:1 – 3

And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.

2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.

3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

How many uncircumcised associations are we now having? Bible says do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. You think it doesn’t matter to be in business partnership with unbelievers? The devil is taking serious advantage of our carelessness. I’d like us to wake up in this class and stop being careless.

Samson was warned by his parents here but he wouldn’t listen. That was where he started. Gradually, that was how he moved until Delilah got hold of him. An adage in Nigeria says whatever we would not eat, we should not smell. That’s the reason you need to censor your social media followership yourself. Most products are now advertised with nudity.

So we must be careful and not careless. If you’re a gospel ministrel or minister, especially females, please watch the kind of pictures you post on social media. Please when you want to post pictures of yourself, make sure you aren’t inviting people to sin out of your carelessness.

Please be careful. Do not be careless. Bible says, be sober and vigilant. Because your adversary the devil is like a roaring lion, moving about seeking whom he may devour.

It’s important we take note of these lessons. We are in a war. So, be watchful always. Because the older you grow in the Lord, the more meticulous you should become. There are some things that shouldn’t be found in your hands. God requires some standards of you. The older you grow, the more meticulous you should become. Because the more difficult it might be for you to correct your errors.

Avoiding potential dangers, mishaps, or harm.

Please, listen to this. Many say, I have a big God, so I can pull trouble somewhere. The fact that God is big in your life is not a licence to cause trouble. It’s not a licence to get involved in every battle. You should choose your battles carefully. Don’t comment on every discussion thread. Don’t comment in every discussion. Whether it’s about politics, country or anything. Many children of God have suffered unnecessarily because they got into arguments and discussions that don’t concern them.

Please, let God lead you even before you press send when you type a post. Wait and pause and say Lord, would you have me send this? That you have a big God does not licence you to get into trouble at will. Yes, He will come to your rescue, but sometimes, it’s not without some bruises and scars.

1 Pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

We will continue in the next class by the grace of God. Father, thank you. Lord Give us the grace to be in guard always, in the spirit.

Bible says, walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Please give us that grace to always walk in the spirit all the time. To be careful and not careless..in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

If you’re yet to accept Jesus, then you’re being careless, and that’s a deadly carelessness. The devil hangs around every corner, looking for those who do not have cover.

Say Lord Jesus, I come under your umbrella. I come to you today, and I accept you as my Lord and saviour. I confess my sins and I forsake them. I repent of them completely. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus mighty name. Amen.
