JUICE AT THE RIVERBANK

Drawing from the riverside episode of psalms 1 verses 1 to 3, in the last class we found those 3 things that qualify us to be planted at the Riverbank. They are

Refusing to walk in the counsel of the ungodly,

Staying away from sin and sinners and

Staying delighted in God’s word.

Series: Come, Drink – John 7:37 !

The above three qualify us to be planted, That is, established at the river side. And the moment we get planted by that River side, our lives change forever.

We will not leave the Riverside in a hurry, because there’s so much blessing waiting for us there. We title this class Juice at the Riverside, because we’re about to fetch the first blessings of being planted at the riverbank. Juice symlolizes sweetness and freshness,

In this class, we will look at one of the blessings we get for being planted by the Riverside. Remember that we have established a few classes ago that God himself is this river. That River is the totality of the flow of everything God and everything good that God passes to us.

Let’s read psalms 1: 1-3 again to get us started.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

In this class, we’re focusing on verse 3. Check that scripture well, verse 3 introduce 3 separate blessings up for grabs when you obey the conditions in verses 1 and 2.

Living Bible puts verse 3 this way.

They are like trees along a riverbank bearing luscious fruit each season without fail. Luscious fruits are juicy fruits. When a plant has constant supply of water like those at the Riverside, their fruits taste better than those of plants that have to be watered artificially. Bible says your leaves shall never wither, and all you do shall prosper because you are planted always in Him, at the Riverside. You have come into him thirsty and now, you didn’t just drink once and leave, you stayed there and got planted at the Riverside. In other words, you have made God, His word, His service, His people, His spirit, His presence, His praise, His Church, and everything about Him, your lifestyle. A life of bliss! That’s who I want to be, that’s the best place to be, Hallelujah! Hallelujah.

So, here’s the first blessing. Let’s go quickly.

You shall bring forth your fruit in your season. Living Bible says, you shall bear luscious fruit each season without fail. What this means is that there will be no break in your experience of a good life, you will not enjoy today and suffer tomorrow. What makes you think suffering is God’s will for you is when you have been there for too long and nothing seems to be getting better. Maybe be it’s time you listen to psalms 1 verses 1 and 2 and see how to enjoy the Riverside blessing.

I say this because the God just reminded me of the scripture in Psalm 23 verses 1 and 2 that says

The Lord is my shepherd, I SHALL NOT WANT. I will not want because he makes me to lie down in green pastures. Please compare that to psalm 1 verse 3b in the living Bible that says you will bear luscious fruit, talking about pleasantly rich, sweet tasting fruit. That’s what green pastures mean. It symbolizes plenty, freshness, sweetness and coolness.

Now, talking about bringing forth your fruit in the right season. It means there will be no delay in your life. When you experience delay, most times, it’s not from God. Actually,

God doesn’t delay anyone. We delay ourselves. If God is holding something back from you, and it looks like delay, it’s most probable there’s something he’s showing you or telling you that you aren’t seeing, hence he witholds you so you don’t get hurt, and that looks like delay.

An example of that is found in the case of Balaam in Numbers 22:24-34. God’s was trying to call his attention to an instruction he must follow. He must say only that which God tells him to say where he is going, even though he will be enticed with gifts so he can compromise this instruction.. therefore, God sent an angel to block his way. His Donkey saw it, but he didn’t. The donkey had to crush him against the wall for him to stop. Balaam felt some pain in that processed, his donkey had to speak to him like a man, and all the time spent looked like delay to him,but in the end he heard the instruction.

Please don’t go a stretch without hearing from God, of there’s a silence and you do not see the signs you normally see of God speaking to you, just pause and go to God in prayer and fasting Because there’s always an instruction for every season. Don’t wait until you are chastised so he can have your attention. Don’t be carried away with programme and events and rallies to the extent you lose God’s presence.

That’s why you should again follow what the bible says in Psalms 1 verse 2. When you make God’s word your delight and meditate, i.e. think through it day and night, your vision is crystal clear and your spirit will be highly receptive to what he is saying and where he is leading you, and where he is not leading you, but you’re rather leading yourself, which could harm you, so that there will be no delay in your life. So that God will not have to withold your moves against his will. So that verse 3b of psalms 1 will then manifest in your life, so you can bring forth, the right fruits in the right season, i.e, at the right time.

From today, I release you for speed in Jesus Name. There shall be no more delay.

Still talking about bringingย  forth your fruits in the right season. Again, I love the living Bible’s translation. Psalm 1 verse 3b says bearing luscious fruit each season without fail. Without fail means there will be no drought. And that’s another revelation.

In Psalms 23 verse 2, Bible says He leads me besides the still waters. In short, He says from verse 1 – The Lord is myshepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, and in addition leads me beside the still waters. Green pastures there in Psalms 23 verse 2ย  can be equated to the luscious fruit in Psalms 1 verse 3. Both refer to a position of satisfaction and nourishment. All these will be your portion henceforth in Jesus Name. That’s what you get when you refuse to take evil counsel, when you abstain from sin and refuse to hang out with sinners, but instead spend your time meditating on God’s word.

Can we move to the second blessing found in Psalm 1 verse 3?

Oh, let’s take that in the next class. I’m blessed already, I’m sure you are too.

So, let’s just say that this blessings are available only to those who know Jesus. It’s one thing to hear the word, it’s another thing to believe it. Then it’s most important you take the first step, which is salvation. Come to Jesus Today and all these blessings will be yours. Say Lord Jesus,ย  I want to be planted by the Riverside. I want to bear fruit every season. I repent of my sins and I forsake them. I accept you as my Lord and saviour. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
